AAdvantage® third-party site terms

You can earn and redeem AAdvantage® miles with American’s third-party partners for more than flights. AAdvantage Cars℠, AAdvantage Cruises℠, and AAdvantage Hotels℠ are third-party sites with their own terms and privacy policies between you and the third-party partners. However, your mileage activity and AAdvantage® account remain subject to AAdvantage® terms and the redemption rules below. Review these details to understand mileage requirements and restrictions before booking.

AAdvantage Cars℠ Miles Redemption Terms

1. General

  • a. Your use of the AAdvantage Cars℠ platform is subject to the terms and conditions between you and Etrawler Unlimited Company (“CarTrawler”).
  • b. American Airlines assumes no responsibility for the AAdvantage Cars℠ platform or its content, including for vehicles available through, or any other goods or services offered or made available on, the AAdvantage Cars℠ platform.
  • c. The AAdvantage® terms and conditions and these supplemental terms and conditions apply as between you and American Airlines, Inc. (“American Airlines”) with respect to your redemptions of AAdvantage® miles on the AAdvantage Cars℠ platform and your AAdvantage® account.

  • d. AAdvantage® miles have no cash value. In no instance will the AAdvantage Cars℠ platform, American Airlines or CarTrawler offer or permit the conversion of AAdvantage® miles into a cash amount and the payment of such cash amount to you (or any similar transactions), not even in the case of a cancelled Redemption Reservation or the cancellation or termination of your AAdvantage® account.

2. Redeeming AAdvantage® miles on AAdvantage Cars℠

  • a. Members of the AAdvantage® program may redeem their AAdvantage® miles to make a reservation for a vehicle rental on the AAdvantage Cars℠ platform (a “Redemption Reservation”). A Redemption Reservation includes any redemption for a vehicle rental on the AAdvantage Cars℠ platform that is redeemed for in whole with AAdvantage® miles, or as a combination of AAdvantage® miles and a cash amount paid via credit card.
  • b. You may make a Redemption Reservation for such amount of AAdvantage® miles as indicated by CarTrawler on AAdvantage Cars℠ for each vehicle rental, provided that you have sufficient AAdvantage® miles available on your AAdvantage® account at the time of redemption. AAdvantage® miles that are not yet accrued and credited to your AAdvantage® account at the time you place an order are not available to redeem. You may not combine AAdvantage® miles from two or more accounts on a single transaction. AAdvantage® miles may be deducted from your account as soon as a Redemption Reservation is completed. In the event that AAdvantage® miles have not been properly debited from your account at the time of redemption, such miles may be debited by American Airlines from your AAdvantage® account at any time
  • c. If your Redemption Reservation is fully redeemed with AAdvantage® miles, any applicable taxes and fees will also be covered by your use of AAdvantage® miles.
  • d. If your Redemption Reservation is made using a combination of AAdvantage® miles and a cash amount paid via a credit card, any applicable taxes and fees will be paid by you using your credit card.
  • e. Any amounts collected via credit card payment are collected by or on behalf of CarTrawler, and not by American Airlines. These amounts may appear on your credit card statements as "ET Car Hire".
  • f. AAdvantage® miles can never be redeemed for optional extras or insurance in connection with your vehicle reservation.

3. Earning AAdvantage® miles

  • a. If your vehicle rental on AAdvantage Cars℠ is paid entirely via credit card, you will earn Base Miles for your transaction, unless otherwise stated by CarTrawler. “Base Miles” and “Loyalty Points” have the meanings ascribed in the AAdvantage® terms and conditions.

  • b. You will not earn any AAdvantage® miles or Loyalty Points for your Redemption Reservation, regardless of whether redeemed fully with AAdvantage® miles or redeemed with a combination of AAdvantage® miles and credit card payment.

4. Changes and Cancellations

  • a. CarTrawler establishes the change and cancellation policy for Redemption Reservations, including with regard to any change or cancellation fee and the issuing of any refunds. If a refund is due, American Airlines will issue refunds for AAdvantage® miles in connection with a change or cancellation of a Redemption Reservation as instructed by CarTrawler.
  • b. Refunded AAdvantage® miles (if any) may take up to six weeks to process from the date that American Airlines is notified by CarTrawler of an applicable refund.
  • c. Any issues or disputes regarding a change or cancellation to your Redemption Reservation, including with regard to the issuance of AAdvantage® miles refunds (if any), shall be resolved as between you and CarTrawler.

AAdvantage Cruises℠ Miles Redemption Terms

1. General

  • a. Your use of the AAdvantage Cruises℠ platform is subject to the terms and conditions between you and World Travel Holdings, Inc. (“World Travel Holdings”).
  • b. American Airlines assumes no responsibility for the AAdvantage Cruises℠ platform or its content, including for Cruises available through, or any other goods or services offered or made available on, the AAdvantage Cruises℠ platform.
  • c. The AAdvantage® terms and conditions and these supplemental terms and conditions apply as between you and American Airlines, Inc. (“American Airlines”) with respect to your redemptions of AAdvantage® miles on the AAdvantage Cruises℠ platform and your AAdvantage® account.

You may make a Redemption Reservation for such amount of AAdvantage® miles as indicated by World Travel Holdings on AAdvantage Cruises℠ for an applicable cruise booking, provided that you have sufficient AAdvantage® miles available on your AAdvantage® account at the time of redemption.   • b. American Airlines assumes no responsibility for the AAdvantage Hotels℠ platform or its content, including for hotels available through, or any other goods or services offered or made available on, the AAdvantage Hotels℠ platform.
  • c. The AAdvantage® terms and conditions and these supplemental terms and conditions apply as between you and American Airlines, Inc. (“American Airlines”) with respect to your redemptions of AAdvantage® miles on the AAdvantage Hotels℠ platform and your AAdvantage® account.

2. Redeeming AAdvantage® miles on AAdvantage℠ Hotels

  • a. Members of the AAdvantage® program may redeem their AAdvantage® miles to make a reservation for a hotel stay on the AAdvantage Hotels℠ platform (a “Redemption Reservation”). A Redemption Reservation includes any redemption for a hotel stay on the AAdvantage Hotels℠ platform that is redeemed for in whole with AAdvantage® miles, or as a combination of AAdvantage® miles and a cash amount paid via credit card.
  • b. You may make a Redemption Reservation for such amount of AAdvantage® miles as indicated by Rocket Travel on AAdvantage Hotels℠ for an applicable hotel booking, provided that you have sufficient AAdvantage® miles available on your AAdvantage® account at the time of redemption. AAdvantage® miles that are not yet accrued and credited to your AAdvantage® account at the time you make a booking are not available to redeem. You may not combine AAdvantage® miles from two or more accounts on a single transaction. AAdvantage® miles may be deducted from your account as soon as a Redemption Reservation is completed.
